North Star Swim Team

Dawn DeLuca has been a competitive swimmer since the age of 5. She received a swimming scholarship for NC State University and still holds the record for the Wolfpack for the 50 yard butterfly. After college, Coach Dawn started her coaching career in North Carolina. She coached age group swimming from 2000-2003 until she moved to New Jersey. She then coached the Mighty Marlins Swim team 2004-2020. This team won many championships under her tenure. Coach Dawn also coached Hammonton summer swim from 2005-2011 and then she switched gears and took an assistant coaching position at Dolphin Swim Club in Vineland. Coach Dawn’s passion for the sport is reflected in her current and past swimmers. Dawn is currently the Athletic Director, Physical Education and Health teacher at Woodland Country Day School in Bridgeton, NJ. She is the proud Aunt of Paige, Kendall, and Harper Connor and lives in Bear, DE with her beloved dog and “wing man”, Goose.

Hi everyone!

 I’m so excited to return to North Star as a coach for my 6th summer! I have just completed my third year at the University of Miami but North Star has always been home. After learning to swim here as a toddler, I went on to spend ten years swimming on our team.   Along with North Star, my swimming career consisted of 4 years of varsity high school swim as a 4x states qualifier and a few seasons on the Western YMCA’s junior nationals team. Now that my swimming days are over I get to devote my attention to helping our swimmers reach their full potential while having fun and learning to love the sport! 

I have been a member and swam for North Star since 2010, and have also worked as a lifeguard there for 4 years, and have been coaching for the past 5. I am about to graduate from the University of Delaware with a major in Sport Management and a minor in Event Management, and am excited to work for their athletic department as a Marketing Coordinator starting later this Summer.

Hi, I’m Robbie Maegerle, and I’m excited to be coaching at North Star this summer! I’ve been swimming here since 2015, and it’s always felt like a second home to me. During the school year, I swim for Saint Mark’s High School and went to states both as a freshman and a sophomore. I’m thrilled to be back at North Star as a lifeguard and a coach for the summer season. I’m looking forward to helping our swimmers grow, have fun, and make the most of their time in the pool! 

I’m Natalie Guzzo and I’m excited to return to North Star for my first year as a junior coach. I have been swimming for North Star since I was 5, although I took a break for a few years. I also have been on the Charter School of Wilmington swim team for 3 years now. I’m excited for a fun season!

Hi, I am Taya Maynerich, and I have been a member of the North Star Swim Team for 8 years! I am super excited to be an assistant coach this year and look forward to getting to work with the team! I am going into my senior year of high school this year and have enjoyed participating on the Padua swim team for the last three years, as well as art classes. I love the North Star community and am looking forward to being more involved this summer!
